A little more about Henry
Hello, my name is Henry Lepe (He/Him/El). I am an Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT #134539) practicing in Orange County, California. I am a Cisgender Latinx Gay Male who authentically shows up and models authenticity. As a therapist, I am compassionately direct, and I am ready to dive in, I empower you, and I challenge you. My therapeutic approach focuses on self-acceptance and self-compassion. I integrate in my therapeutic approach from evidenced-based modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), family dynamics and psychodynamic techniques, and mindfulness. I am a firm believer that we are not victims of our past but that we are survivors, we are good enough, and we are worthy. Furthermore, I am a strong advocate that our emotions are valid and that our narratives can be redefined by gaining awareness and acceptance that we are reenacting our internal models and narratives in our present life that originated from our childhood relationships and experiences.
I received my Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton. I have been working in the counseling field since 2020 primarily in community outpatient mental health clinics with lower-level income families. I am a therapist who helps older adolescents (15+) and young adults struggling with their LGBTQIA+ identity or issues (same-sex relationships, coming out process, internalized homophobia, or discrimination), anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, self-destructive behaviors, and emotional detachment. I believe in reparenting our inner child with empathy and non judgmental understanding to rediscover our resilience, build and develop affirmative narratives and learn self-regulation skills to surf through our emotional waves. I know that it is not easy to work on your mental health and process your emotions, yet I genuinely believe that choosing to come to therapy is a BRAVE and POWERFUL choice! Also, a heads up, I am human too. I have experienced trauma, anxiety, feelings of shame and guilt, yet I want to let you know that my hope is you feel safe and accepted in our space together because your narrative matters.
